Find Advertising Publications

Collins library has access to a variety of advertising and marketing periodicals.

If you know the exact title of the publications you need to search, follow these steps:
1. From the Collins Library homepage, select the green Journals tab.
2. In the search box, type the title of the publications you want to search. eg., advertising age
3. Highlight the radio button by the words, "begins with."

4. When the list of publications appear, select the title you want to search.

5. Select the one that includes coverage to the present.




If you'd like to see all the publications we have access to in a particular subject or industry, follow these steps:
1. From the Collins Library homepage, select the green Journals tab.
2. In the search box, type your term. eg., advertising
3. Highlight the radio button by the word, "contains".

4. You will find a few pages of results. As you click on each title, take note of the coverage. Some will show availability for a limited date range, while others will note the publication is available up to the present issue.
5. The following screen shows the title "Advertising Age's Business Marketing". The coverage starts on Jan. 7, 1996 and ends on Jan. 1, 2000.

Collins Library has access to both Advertising Age and Adweek. Search each title individually directly from a database:

Use the Thesaurus

As you will see, the subject of Advertising or Marketing will return thousands of articles. In order to find more focused results, try using the thesaurus that is embedded in most of the Business Databases.

Finding Blogs, Podcasts, and Websites

ABI/Inform Collection features a very easy interface to locate blogs, podcasts, and websites.

1. Start at the ABI/Inform Collection Advanced Search page.
2. Type your subject in the search box. Try to use official subject headings you found in the Thesaurus.
2. Scroll down almost to the bottom of the page. You will see three boxes, labeled Source type, Document type, and Language.
3. In the Document type box, check the box by Blogs, Podcasts, and Websites.

4. Search.
5. If you have too many results, use the limits on the left side of the page to narrow your results further.
